Living My Life To The Fullest...

Peace, Blessings and Respect, My Readers! I just noticed that most blogs consist of other people's movement and their business. My bad! My web log consists of me, myself and I... (I'm listening to Remixes, Rarities and Instrumentals by De La Soul.) If you're interested in what I spend my time doing and seeing and experiencing, you are welcome to read on. If not, take a look anyway. Who I am and what I do is quite interesting. Enjoy!

I've been doing so much and enjoying life so heartily that my March entry is not here. Sorry bout that! So let's get started... SuperBowl Sunday was February 2nd and the Den was popping! I had a ball celebrating my bearthday, early with DJ Mumma Lioness, Fred, Gina, Father German, Jah Beanz, Benjamin and the Bar-Star, Karla Vera! It was a wonderful night filled with a great game, delicious food, great people and hot music! I thank you all for making that night special for me! Hey, Chad!!!

I chilled home for my bearthday, cooked and cleaned but I managed to enjoy some dancing at Frank's Lounge with DJs Eman, Bradford James and Soulfinger Sam. My night and morning were wonderful! I so needed to dance and my morning stretch was such an exhilarating start to my 44th year on this plane. :) Thank You, ALL!

"Obama Is The President But I Voted For Shirley Chisolm" Mix Master Weekend popped off on Friday, Valentine's Day. The DJs went to work! Everybody was dope. Some of the sets can be found on soundcloud by each DJ individually, but you need to check my blog titled, "Happy Healthy Birthday 2 Me", to check the line-up. Also, check Ustream for the video and audio link.

The second day of the Mix Master Weekend, I went to Da BeatMinerz HQ to chill for the day and get some work done while enjoying the music. I asked a question which prompted the previous blog, "During Mix Master Weekend". That was fun and straight educational as far as Hip Hop is concerned.

Learning the opinions, finding out the likes, disagreeing, joking and debating with DJs I highly regard is dope in itself. That would have been incredible footage!

The Art of Lyrics showcase at Camaradas on February 16th was so incredible! I haven't done a live set since December 2012. It felt good. I forgot how much I love to perform. I wore a wrap there to preserve the dope style I created and forgot to remove the wrap when I began performing. It was that sangria, Murph! Good stuff. Every MC that touched the mic was dope! Nena Bleu, Fatale, Apani, Larj Marj and Nene Ali. We all put in work! I'm proud of all of us! Refreshing to know dope MCs still exist in NYC!

I only had a few hours to dance on my bearthday because I got to Frank's late. On March 2nd, I went to the Shelter Party at Work In Progress to hear Timmy Regisford, and my homies, DJs Kalim Shabazz and Kim Lightfoot (of The Afterlife), spin.
I was inspired to do floor moves and dance for hours with my girl Denyse, and my little brother, Orlando! Ishi and Marz know what it is... We are True House heads!

When I performed regularly in the late nineties and early 21st century, Serge was my dancer, soundman, videographer, video editor, show tape coordinator and great friend. (And he gave me a dope standing back rub near the bar, when I mentioned my July 2013 car accident.) It was good to see seasoned House heads come through on that original Shelter and Afterlife vibe.
DANCER'S FEEL THIS RIGHT HERE!!!!

March 5th was the Bucktown USA's 10 Year Anniversary at Pyramid in LES. Thank you, Cynical Smith and General Steele for your work and dedication to this Brooklyn born label and production company. The showcase was off the meat rack with so many true Hip Hop artists: Smif-N-Wessun, Jewelz, Sean Price, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Rockness Monsta, Vvs Verbal, Sadat X, with DJ Evil Dee and Crazy DJ Bazarro on the 1 and 2's for the night!

March 6th was crazy! Lox Lounge started Throwback Thursday's with DJ Sylk and DJ Evil Dee! They played their asses off on some Rand B and House music tip! I'm glad my girls came out!

Since my grand children's bearthdays are 15 days apart, their parents decided to have a bearthday celebration for both of them on March 8, from 3pm to 7pm. That wound up being 5pm until 12:30am. SMH It was really inspiring and awesome to see my God daughter with her two children. A few of my daughter's friends from HS, who are parents, came to the party with their babies. A few cousins came with their babies, too. Everybody looked so good and everyone was so attentive to their children. I was proud of everyone. We need responsible, motivated young parents right now. We did good, Kibibi! LOL

March 12, we celebrated Terri Berrie's bearthday at Negril Village. It was a beautiful night! She enjoyed her gifts and all the love that was in the spot in her honor. (And the Knicks won! LOL) She looked beautiful in her dress!
Shout out to the GullyGals that were in the house and Da BeatMinerz Radio DJs and personalities that came through! Hope you enjoyed your night, Terri Berrie! You deserve the Best!

Friday, March 14th was another great day of BeatMinerz Radio and I actually got some work done. Usually on Fridays when I tune in to www.ustream.tv/BEATMINERZ-RADIO, I can't stop dancing around my house and I make mad comments in the chat room from noon til 10pm. Salute BeatMinerz Radio Chatroom!!!

About an hour before midnight, I finally decided to cut my locks up to my ears. My last cut 10 years ago was on the last full moon of 2004, December 26th. I cut it all the way down to my new growth. It was a full moon and the next hour was my grand-daughter's first bearthday. I felt good about letting go of the weight of my hair for my neck and back relief, but more so for removing most of the remnants of crazy energy of my past engagement and the stress I've encountered in that situation.
I needed to reduce the length because of the negative and hurtful emotions I endured when my father passed in 2010. There was entirely too much going on during his last days that I had to handle by myself and it's time for me to cleanse. I felt better after I saw the locks in the sink and even better after I washed my hair. I posted my cut off locks on my Facebook and Instagram profiles and several of my friends asked me if I was okay. I'm fine and thank you so much for your concern and love, y'all!
Saturday, March 15th was also the last day of my bearthday celebration! I noticed we had one or two days of beautiful weather and I received a few phone calls from brothers I haven't heard from in months, years even. That's how I know Spring is in the air - not here yet - but in the air. Everybody wants to do dinner and a movie... I don't want to be distracted by past loves who decided now that "No Man In The World Can Let Go Of This Aquarian!" Ha! It's sweet but I'm tied up in me doing me right now. My children are grown and content. My grand children are growing beautifully and I can concentrate on what I want for me. I feel that as a mother and woman, I've completed about 85% of my lifelong duties as a parent. Enjoying my me time, knowing I've raised my children with respect, manners, greater intelligence and the will to assist others, is an incredible feeling. I thank The Most High daily for that. I thank my parents, the lessons I learned from older siblings and especially, my children, for keeping me focused.

March 23rd, I went to Negril Village to support my brothers, DJ Evil Dee and Crazy DJ Bazarro and the Lyrics To Go Party. It was a special birthday celebration for the promoter, Tamir Brown's wife, Melyssa's. They wound up not DJing, but I stayed. Melyssa is too sweet and mad fun to hang with. Her girls are cool and down to earth and the vibe was really cool and mature.

When Terri Berrie had her bearthday party there, we were told there was no dancing. There's a sign near the bar that states there is no dancing on the premises. This night, the entire dance floor was covered in dancing feet. Hmmmm? Someone else was celebrating their birthday and I never saw Negril Village this packed before. I didn't complain. I got my R. Kelly step on, though.

I was checking my Instagram before I left and saw that DJ DP One was spinning around the corner at Le Poisson Rouge. I went with my friend Fred who was dancing up a storm at Negril Village. I didn't know it was the Behind The Groove party that I've been meaning to check out. So good to see my sister, Roc-a-fella, and my brothers, DJ DPOne, DJ KwikStep and North from Division X. We had a great time and I got to dance some more.

March 25th I went to SOB's for the Faces In The Crowd showcase. It was so exciting to see a live showcase. I didn't notice I missed live shows until I was at one. The talent was definitely better than several cats I catch on the radio when I bother to turn it on. That's not often! I'll have to see the next one.

I'm so glad I went. I met some of old and new friends there. Ms. Rasheeda Wallace was working the pink lipstick and taking photos! Kris tore the stage down with her MC skills!
My brethren, Clinton from Ital Stu, won the R and B/Reggae performance for the night. Excuse me...He had a partner who was singing with him. They sounded good together. I met SheReal, who won the Hip Hop portion of the night.
Silent Celeb won the RandB portion last month. She opened the showcase with the Hip Hop winner from last month. I love good music! Oh, The host for the night, DJ Evil Dee!

March 26th I went back out to Studio 21 to hear DJ Evil Dee spin for Likwuid's monthly art and fashion party. The musical selection was crazy, the crowd was live and dancing and the artwork was so innovative. Thank you, 3ptpop and aliven247! I'm glad to be around such talented and intelligent people. I hope this 'something in the water' lasts. Mr. Hollywood aka Crazy DJ Bazarro was on the scene being his charming and comical self. Bud Light... SMH

On March 28th, Da BeatMinerz' Gully Team hosted a 3-panel discussion on the music industry with true to life artists, entrepreneurs and producers at Hunter College.

These panelists gave their opinions and insight into the music business from branding to creating your personal buzz within social media. Thank you panelists and hosts for putting it together. And thank you for the pizza. Better late than never...

Mr Bito, The Ambassador of Musical Manna, came through late but that didn't stop him from having a good night. Me and my homegirl, Leesah accompanied him to Jamaica Queens' African Poetry Theatre. Every 4th Friday of the month, they have a showcase and open mic hosted by Apani B MC and producer Saiku with DJ Mocha Sunflower on the wheels. Apani asked if I could sing a lil something, so I did. My earlier trickles of Coconut Amsterdam set in so my voice was tenor-toned but I hit them notes. LOL I gave a little Dreams Of Sunshine, too. The band was AWESOME!

Congratulations to Saiku and Sheena on their soon come bundle of joy! And of course, Leesah and Mr. Bito recorded me and we had a good laugh in the car on the way to check DJ Mumma Lioness at Splitty's. She has a free party every 4th Friday of the month, as well. She was jamming! Gina and DJ Styff were there enjoying the vibes and spinning, respectively. It was laid back but heads were getting their dance on. I had a full day and night of excitement!

March 30, my brother from another mother, C-Rayz Walz, came through and spent the day with me, taking footage and talking about life, love, music and the take over! WORD! He copped some of my body products and we made plans to chill again, soon. Great meeting with like-minded eccentrics like myself. :)
I went to Toca Tuesday to meet up with him on April 2. He didn't make it but I saw Ariel, my good friend and owner of Sutra NYC. We were blessed to see so many other people who we appreciate that night. NICE!!
I love the security dude, Ray!

of all the previous events noted here in my blog.

Thank you all for reading my happenings and I hope you make it to some of these events. If you'd like me to promote your events here, email me: yejide7@gmail.com with your flyer and info.

I only support and circulate parties and events that I know I'd go to, if time permits. Too many wack parties and events that cost too much are heavily advertised  and promoted. Word of mouth is the best marketing tool but I use this social networking to get the word out,as well. Thank you, again for checking me out.
