GIVING THANKS - DAILY RITUAL!

PEACE AND LOVE, MY READERS!!!

I LOVE Thanksgiving because I celebrate it everyday! Sorry to start this blog off on a sour note but as a descendant of the Mohawk Indians and as a child of Africa, I cannot be festive for the day my Ancestors were slaughtered, tricked into giving up land, signing dishonorable treaties and being given blankets filled with disease after thinking they were treated with reciprocated respect for all they taught the newcomers to their land. The Indians taught the white man the process of irrigation and how to farm basic foods like corn, beans and squash. The Pilgrim's payback was to kill them. My personal rejection of the so-called holiday is represented by me cooking on Wednesday and making my way to the Libation Party to celebrate my life and gratitude. It just happens to fall on that fourth Thursday.

THAT'S WAY BEFORE 1776... IJS

TRUTH

This year, I didn't cook at all. It was a regular day and I think I will keep to this practice every year. The mere premise makes me sick, so like all the other bullshit AmeriKKKan holidaze, (4thOfULie, Easter, ChristMass and Valentine's Day), I will react in the same fashion: they will all be deemed regular days of the week. And I had a ball at Drom for Thanksgiving! Thank you DJ Ian Friday!

I still don't understand the discounts people go crazy over the day after they give thanks for all they have. Black Friday is about how retailers depend on our dollars to get out of debt for the beginning of their fiscal year and we oblige them, willingly. We run like fools to stand on lines and get bargains that we spend the rest of the year paying off. We spend way more than we earn but it's all about appearances, right? How about we appear like good parents who advocate reading, research and critical thinking in our children? How about we look like entrepreneurs with more skills than talk? Let's see if we can actually look and actually be healthy after all the posts we put up with us going to or in the gym on social media. Let's see if we can actually support and promote Black businesses, African based initiatives and worthwhile causes created for the betterment of all peoples and the planet. That's my goal for all of 2015: Continual building of myself and my personal support of black businesses! I want to have a positive contribution to the reconstruction of a new and better Black Wall Street and another thriving Rosewood community, here in these Untied States!

I've been trying to organize and incorporate my ideas, beliefs and actions to repel the bullshit that is AmeriKKKa: institutionalized racism; unfair competition in and of capitalism; separate and unequal treatment; disenfranchisement of black and brown communities; and the miseducation of our children. I have no wins on the racism - that's ingrained within the very fabric of the small pox infested blankets the Pilgrims gave to the indigenous peoples of this land. However: I make my money on my terms; I'm respected in all circles I frequent and I know I'm a force to be reckoned with in any others; I own my business and I have skills to pay my bills; and more importantly, I taught my children how to read, write, count, do math, have manners, respect their elders and love learning, at home. As a parent, your greatest responsibility is raising your child to be better than you and to guarantee that they are eligible and prepared for as many opportunities as there are to grab and take advantage of that help them grow. At least that's what I believe, as a mother.

I'M SO GLAD SOME OF OUR YOUTH KNOW THE DEAL!

I couldn't tell you how I'd feel if I were the parent of a slain child. At some point, I'd be on that eye for an eye shit, period; especially if the circumstances were similar to these recent situations in AmeriKKKa.  All lives matter but blue shirts seem to show less respect for black and brown lives. And their tee shirts that read "I Can Breathe" are straight wack. We can all breathe. People who wear these shirts are showing their ongoing disrespect for the victims of police brutality. It's insulting and beyond disrespectful.

I know all life matters but there seems to be an epidemic of killing black and brown men, women and children. This is the reason we have to alert everyone! There were some heartless assholes who created a song about Micheal Brown Jr to the tune of Bad Leroy Brown. It was disrespectful, distasteful, low down, discriminatory and just plain sadistic. If this is the mentality of the police nationwide, we better get to policing ourselves, and hold these precincts accountable for the garbage they have patrolling our neighborhoods. There's no excuse for this! Maybe, institutionalized racism... Apologies are in order... But we won't get one, I'm sure...

Personally, I'm tired of reacting. We need a strategy to eradicate or at least avoid the bullshit culture of AmeriKKKa, including restitution for our losses from those who cause our loss. We CANNOT loot our communities, when we collectively see injustice. We really and truly need to stop killing each other. Many of our brothers and sisters are killed by peers because of "disrespect". But if you notice, others are killing us because they see we don't respect each other. I am totally dumbfounded, hurt, angry, and at a loss of words and emotion for the murders of every young man and woman of color killed by white police or neighborhood watch assholes. The only correlation between black on black crime and police on black and brown people is that black and brown people are victims. Other than that, one has nothing to do with the other. Both acts are sparked by disrespect and anger.

But the black and brown community needs to deal with black on black crime by themselves. Police brutality needs to be handled within the communities that are preyed upon, as well as the legislative and judicial branches of government, so they can create laws to stop it and lock up the perpetrators who do it. The police need to chill the fuck out or lose their job or do prison time. The lack of authority shown in the courts is what makes us rally and protest. But the collective disrespect has to stop with us, first... Let's set the example so others will follow. They copy everything else...

Marching and protesting has been going on since the world watched the white police officers who killed unarmed black men go unpunished. Regardless of the information given, testimony from witnesses and depositions of the 'shoot first and be acquitted later' police, how do you explain absolutely no charges being brought against these murderers? How do you condone and not punish the taking of a life? As an officer of the community to be courteous, professional and respectful to the neighborhood they are assigned to keep safe, how do you NOT apologize to the families in mourning?

When Justice seems blind, all of my other powers engage...
And my sister Karma takes over... She's a lot meaner than I am...

There is a word used in law called negligence. No white cop was negligent in the killing of these unarmed black men? No charges? No indictment? Can they give half their pension to the families in mourning? That would be a degree of restitution but these families will never see their husbands, sons, or fathers again. How does the federal judicial system see what's happening and not move on to address it or create a deterrent? This madness is definitely clouding my plans of law school. The whole system is fucked up and I need to hear President Obama's voice on this like he spoke up for Trayvon! There's more to address, Mr. President! Where you at?

EVEN BEFORE EMMET... NOTHING'S CHANGED!
These verdicts of 'no indictment' came close to Indigenous Peoples Day and I was proud to see the solidarity of the human community against the deplorable attitudes and behavior of law enforcement, nationally and internationally.

The action in the following two captions were not only about supporting Black business or keeping the black consumer dollar in the black community to improve our neighborhoods. That was the added incentive. After murdering our people, some of US were still ready to finish our turkey dinners early to spend our dollars with companies that could care less about our well-being. This was a movement that grew from the injustice seen on tell-lie-vision in Ferguson, Missouri and Staten Island, New York. I hope the sales were worth it... But more importantly, I hope the message is clear...

As we work to change the human compassion level, these calls to action were implemented by concerned citizens of all colors, sexual orientations and socio-economic positions. They are standing in solidarity to let it be known that they disagree with these fraudulent grand jury decisions. These murders are not only becoming commonplace, but they are a human atrocity and clearly sparked by racism and disrespect, at the very core. Injustice follows with the precedent set forth (no indictment) because this very premise mandates the subsequent actions, behaviors and beliefs of these arrogant enforcers of the so-called law. The disrespect and murders MUST STOP, NOW!

The day after Thanksgiving, Beatminerz Radio conducted their last Mix Master Weekend for the year 2014, titled, "Pure Vinyl", from November 28th until November 30th. It was dope, as usual. And it was a breath of fresh air from the situations in the media, as well as the foolishness flooding the radio waves...

LocLoveLivesHere presents Meet Up and The Best Of Locs Awards was a success! All the vendors had something different to offer as well as contact information available, so I will be in touch, soon, with evveryone. It was enlightening to listen to the panelist explain their opinions and truths to the audience. We exchanged opinions and ideas and it was so refreshing to have dialogue instead of a battle between natural, synthetic and wig-wearing . The panel discussion covered the gambit! We talked about many aspects of natural hair, the growing natural hair industry and the role we play in our representation overall and everywhere with natural hair. We even played hair pictionary and believe me when I tell you, I learned several words used frequently in the industry of natural hair that I didn't know existed. I'm so proud of my baby! I even won the shirt I wanted from PharoahInc in the raffle! Congratulations, Tajh! You did a great job! I can't wait for the next one!

I enjoyed the panel discussions because everyone was well versed in what they do, how they do it and how to convey their message. I always learn a lot from a different perspective and I'm happy to know that these are people who share the information, give good advice and are currently excelling at what they do. Salute panelist, Hunter College and Da Gully Team!

Since that fourth Thursday of November, I've developed a sleeping disorder. I'm getting three hours of sleep a day. I feel okay but I know this is not good. My racing brain will not shut off, so I'm taking one day at a time with cleaning my home. When I can't turn off my brain, it impedes every other aspect of my life: cooking, relaxing, reading, eating, exercising... Cleaning is my only remedy that calms me and eases my mind. I'll be back on point, soon.

During the crazy hours, I've managed to get several personal goals completed, I've recorded some music and I went a few places to release some physical tension. As a matter of fact, I attended ManChildBlack's birthday party and Last Libation party for 2014 at Drom. It was dope and the energy was crazy! DJ Sabine Blaizin was just that, Blazin! DJ Sres closed out and ManChildBlack loved the gifts I gave him. Balance products, of course!

I AGREE WHOLEHEARTEDLY ON THIS RIGHT HERE!

A combination of the above caption and the post below, would make me happy, healthy, giving, sharing, compassionate, strong, progressive, money-making, productive, loving and a respectable woman. I'm all those things now but to strengthen my aura with that power and light will ultimately fill my heart and nourish me for 2015 and beyond. I found all the elements, I just need to let them marinate. Life is getting better. I'm on my Shaman ish this coming year! I'm an optimistic, faithful realist and I believe in Karma, The Laws of Attraction and the Laws of Power. Finding my InnerGlow so I can get my WinnerGo on! #CantStopWontStop

And for all my haters, this is my last declaration to you. I must be doing something right to keep you subliminally planning my demise. You provide me with no power and you don't motivate me. I'd rather build with you but if you'd rather watch and talk, I'll let you continue to do so... The caption below is for you and this will be the last time I address you! Peace!

Anytime DuckDownMusic puts Smif-N-Wessun, Black Moon and Talib Kweli on stage, you get an excellent show. And the Music Hall of Williamsburg is a great spot for these shows.

I've witnessed these artists turn out A3C and BB Kings, this year. The audience feedback is crazy: heads rhyming along, word for word; jumping and dancing to the music; and letting their favorites lay on top of the crowd... Just incredible! This years Holiday show was nothing less than fantabulous!

I'm fortunate enough to live near all the dope spots in Williamsburg even though I'm on the South Side, so I walk to many events. Walking down North 6th, I see what's left of Academy Records, which is now in Greenpoint. I also walked passed Mikey's Hook Up, which is still thriving right next door.

I've reached the spot! There were about 30 people there. You know I secured my place at the edge of the stage in the front...

Saturday, December 20, 2014, Keith "WildChild" Middleton of Hydra, The Plague and the 19 year running stage play, Stomp, released his debut album, "Transitions" at The Nuyorican Poets Cafe during the regularly scheduled WORDS showcase.

The show was dope! The album will be when I hear it. I know because I witnessed his magic on stage. Several dope MCs rocked as the appetizer. But right before, Wildchild did his thing, his son's, THE ROOMMATES sang. I mean they SANG, accompanied by an acoustic guitar and beautiful harmonies. GMS does a flute solo on one of WildChild's joints and his back up singers were making me think they were droppin albums soon. Amazing! I had to support because the live show was refreshing, grown and sexy Hip Hop, Spoken Word, singing and Steppin.  He even had FullCircle Fam on stage doing the choreography for one of his upcoming videos. Pure niceness, this evening. Met good people and sold a few items. Thank you, China Aroh & Kate Hess for your support! That's what it's all about!

NOTHING BUT LOVELY LADIES!

That was Saturday! Sunday was the alloted rest day and that is what I did. I've been cleaning and getting my mind and body right for the new year. I stayed in creating new body products for specific conditions and overly thought about flavors. I had a re-up order from TheCarmenB and DJ Sylk, so I made the trek in the freezing cold to deliver the goods... to the Bronx and Beatminerz Radio HQ. My people are worth it. I got to see my old stomping grounds in the Bronx and enjoy my Beatminerz Radio fam. It was a great day!

After walking for 40 minutes, I got my bearings. So many things have changed in the BX. Gentrification is everywhere but my silly ass made one wrong turn and took a site-seeing tour. There were some Bearthday Surprises in there, as well. Happy Healthy Blessed Bearthday, Carmen!!!
