I had a ball at A3C's 10th Year Anniversary! This was my first time attending and I had fun, but I worked everyday. I came down as Beatminerz staff and had every intention to help out as much as I could and I did. I know I did more than any blogger is supposed to do but it was cool. Walt, Cyn and E have been family for years. Much Love and many blessings to my family, StaHHr, Taj Anwar, CeOtis and Cedric for making sure a sister was alright. I love you all, for real. Next time, we'll have more time to chill...
My A3C experience began in NYC at Penn Station, waiting for that Greyhound Bus. I don't sleep much on the bus because I need to know what's going on all the time. I packed my bus ride grub: homemade trail mix, tuna fish with avocado slices, salad with lots of greens, and a fruit salad. I left at 4:30pm on October 7th.

can't read the signs but who cares... |
I got off Greyhound, rocking my hoodie and it's hot as Hades, so I take it off and catch a cab. The dude who tells me to get in the cab says the ride is $10. When I get in the cab, I confirm the price and ya man says $15. I got out of the cab so they could figure out why I heard two different prices. The cabbie explained to me that homeboy does that all the time and he's going to get hurt. He can't tell passengers the price because he doesn't know and he doesn't drive the cabs. They almost fought. I had to stop them so I could proceed with my trip. Felt like I was right back in Brooklyn...

Finally made it to the Crowne Plaza and went straight to the 25th floor with my bags. Walked in and got my key from Cyn to drop off my things in our room on the 24th floor. Cyn came up and we chatted while she got some equipment needed for the radio station. I changed and came back upstairs with trail mix. Glad to know everybody was diggin my homemade trail mix. I'll be sure to pack more, next time.

I should do this everyday! |
Nobody knows, every morning of A3C, me, Cynical and Danielle were on the 25th floor every morning before breakfast was served because we move like that. So, ya man walks in where breakfast was being served and saw us three natural Queens sitting at Beatminerz Radio. He wouldn't come further than the yogurt, while he was on the phone, but when he walked away, I couldn't believe what I saw. I nudged Cyn after Dee nudged me and we were like, Oh, Hell Naw! His jacket read in big bold, red, white and blue: Real Nigga Radio. I never saw him again, but the ass whoopin he woudda got if Beatminerz Radio DJs was up there eating breakfast... It would have been priceless and well-deserved!

|
General Steele and DJ Lickashot |
This panel was necessary. Someone took the time to interview several Hip Hop icons and get inside information of how their Hip Hop making process goes and put it in book form. Brian Coleman, author of "Check The Technique", volumes 1 and 2, moderated the panel which consisted of Da Beatminerz, (Mr. Walt and Evil Dee) and Smif-n-Wessun's Steele and Tek. It was informative and just great to see brothers make good music together and give flashbacks to the audience regarding their creative process, their upbringing, their influences and the family bonds that formed between the producer and MC on Da Shinin.

Brownsville, Brooklyn! |
Our last stop was my house but we let out Rock's man, Bo in my old hood, Brownsville, Brooklyn. We rode past P.S. 150, where most of my siblings, nephews and nieces attended school and my old apartment building, 390 Sutter Ave, in the Van Dyke Houses. That short stint there brought back crazy young memories and I still knew how to navigate out of The Ville to get home to Williamsburg. Again, THANK YOU, MR. BITO!
A3C was a fun-filled, learning experience and I will be better prepared next year. I'll have more product, too!
And if I didn't mention it, THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, Thesselonious!!! Without you, Beatminerz Radio would not have been heard at A3C! Peace and Power, my brother!
