NOTHING BUT LOVE!!!

Peace and Love, my people!

I'm always trying to improve myself and I'm always drawn to like-minded people that want to do the same for themselves. When you come across something great that builds your knowledge, grows your heart or strengthens your faith, you hold tight and know that you will improve on another level, somehow, someway. I must say that I'm excited and elated to be on my way to a better future, financially, spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and physically. When things don't seem to go right for me, I pray and study. I concentrate on all my strengths and push myself to accentuate them. I also work on eliminating the negatives, which is easier said than done. I go out to release tension and dance facing the speakers in the back of the club in the dark by myself. It's therapeutic. It's a way to de-stress myself and I must say it's been working for me since 1986.

ME AT SIN SIN FOR SOULGASM...

I'm still amazed at how oblivious AmeriKKKa is to the blatant brutality of police officers and the racial overtones of the current onslaught of incidences. I'm sure there are good cops. I'm glad to say, I know a few. But what we see and what we don't know about is tragic, disgraceful, illegal and straight inhumane. When I say incidences, I mean the killing of Sean Bell, Ahmadou Diallo, Eric Garner, Anthony Baez, Mike Brown, as well as the assault of Rodney King and Abner Louima, and all the other young black and latino men and women before them, who fell victim to the gang in blue with badges. I send my deepest condolences and prayers to their families and friends, and pray for peace.

To all the impoverished families, that can't afford a decent nutritious meal without artificial shit and GMOs, my heart goes out to you. These are the families that are supposed to be 'entitled' to food stamps, medical assistance and rental assistance, as per President Roosevelt, when he created the first 'welfare system' for women and children after WWI, when husbands and fathers were killed in battle. AmeriKKKa doesn't take care of it's own, anymore. When I say it's own, I not only mean the majority of white folks on public assistance. I'm talking about the AmeriKKKan cities that are currently phukkt up, financially and the descendants of the people forcefully taken from Africa and the Caribbean. Our Ancestors were treated as property and heinously discarded like animals. AmeriKKKa has never tried to remedy the emotional, physical, financial, mental or long-lasting effects of slavery. I don't know about you but I'll accept 17 acres and an electric car at this point. I want Black Wall Street rebuilt by us with a defense system that will blast anybody trying to see it fail.

Currently, someone is trying to erase slavery from history books, so no one has to read the terrible things done to people of color throughout the centuries since this nations inception. Someone has the nerve to introduce a new word to the dictionary: NEGROPHOBIA - the unsubstantiated fear of black people. (If I didn't read it for myself, I wouldn't have believed it.) Here is a perfect example of what's to come: White people will go their therapists and they will be diagnosed as suffering from negrophobia. It will not only legitimize their unsubstantiated fear, (which will be passed down through generations as hereditary), but will create new reasons to alienate black folk, thereby strengthening the institutionalized racism we deal with today.

I must thank my professors at John Jay College for my consciousness on African American studies and how we are affected by societies misconceptions and historical treatment. I must thank my parents for making me love myself. I love my skinny, tomboyish, bow-legged, thick haired, brown-skinned, big-fore-headed self. Lol! Yes! I LOVE ME! And my family and my people love me and not for those reasons. We need to learn to love ourselves, spread the love and teach our children to love themselves. I didn't grow up disrespectful and sexually 'ready' like the youth of today. I used to listen to soulful music that used live instrumentation. This music nowadays is not only dumbing down our children, but it's subliminally, stealing their youth, suppressing their individuality and killing their innate passion for knowledge. Everybody wants to be better at the same thing. They need to learn that their 'flaws' make them unique and their differences make them special. Realize that if you don't love yourself, you can't expect anyone else to love you.

This particular blog is to reach everyone doing well and to offer a suggestion: help in any way you can. Bring the issues that you feel need discussion to the forefront. Share what bothers you about society, music, education, politics, religion, and anything that sparks conversation that initiates critical thinking and opinions for a better future for us. Write a letter to a political prisoner. Help out at an event for autism, literacy, senior citizens, women's reproductive rights, etc. Boycott Monsanto, GMO's, Walmart and every other company that doesn't pay their workers a livable wage. We need to learn how to budget our money. We need to learn how to stretch our dollars, especially in our communities. We need to learn how to be self-sufficient and teach our youth these practices. I know I sound like I'm on a civil soap box but I'm tired of complaining to the choir. We know the songs to sing but we can't get everybody in the church, nah mean? I find myself in tough spots all the time but my faith in a higher power and my good nature keeps my blessings flowing. They may not come when I want them but they're always here when I need them. Stay positive and be blessed. That's my $.07...

Everyday has a new horizon! Wake up with a fresh attitude towards your new day!

Speaking of new... PEOPLE! BE AWARE! Instead of heads using technology to make the world a better, safer place, you need to keep your eyes open for this right here... Watch your back and your pin at the ATM!

Last Saturday I was honored to host my homegirl, Tomasia and MegMan's EP release as Love and War, as well as her film screening of "Middle Passage". Both were dope and I was so glad I went. I got to reconnect with my old soul sister, Kymbali, traded hugs with Kid Lucky, ran into Tjade and DJ Iriela, drank some Witches Brew made by Nucomme and was blessed with a decadent chocolate cupcake from my man, Delphius Lovejoy at the Kymberle Project (thank you, Sis!) on Atlantic between Nostrand & New York Avenues in Brooklyn.

I have the privilege to be a part of this years A3C conference with Beatminerz Radio. The yearly conference is scheduled for October 8 - October 12, 2014 and will commemorate it's 10th Anniversary. This will be my first time attending and I will be surrounded by not only veterans of the yearly fest but my Beatminerz staff and chatroom family. I feel safe, secure, and ready to get work done and have a good time. With that said, I am getting myself together now, packing my clothes, checking my equipment and preparing my travel foods. I may have to bring some extra goodies since we should have a refrigerator in our hotel room. But I'm not sure when I'm coming back since I have a few friends I need to spend time with.

The contest for the Lavender Massage Oil is over. Sneaker Chic of Florida won the 4-oz bottle. The new flavors contest is over, too. Thank you, Apani, Kimmy & Carmen for your suggestions. They are greatly appreciated.

I missed my MTV's The Grind 2nd Reunion, today but I saw a nice picture of everyone on Facebook. Looks like they had a great time. I'll be at the next one, hopefully. I can't be everywhere all the time and some things in life take precedence over partying. Even though it looks like I party a lot, my home and family have always been my priority. I became a master of time management and motherly duties in my youth...

Thank you all for reading, and more importantly, understanding where I'm coming from. I know I'm not alone. Certain things in life shouldn't be so hard and I think we all need a break sometimes. Hopefully, this blog will spark some invaluable conversations or at least be a guide for you to release some stress at one of these upcoming events. Anyhoo... Enjoy the rest of the month and leave a comment, if you feel me! :)

Peace, Love, Respect, Strength, Progress, Guidance, Light, Laughter, Passion and Blessings!
